WWW, November 2011 - It’s been a while since the previous chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011 has been posted online, but good things come to those that wait and here it is: a brand new 1 1/2 hour long non-stop mix carrying some heavyweight Roots and Dub from different times and places. 

Starting with a healthy selection of old-skool Jamaican material, this chapter surely has many different styles to offer. The Congo’s with their classic "Ark of the Covenant", Cornell Campbell’s excellent discomix "Lion of Judah", the magnificent Horace Andy with a meditation of the "Youth of Today" (also in Discomix) and Gregory Isaacs with yet another classic from the motion picture "Rockers", followed by Dillinger and Prince Fari form the opening segment. Classic, old skool material that will not only appeal to the elderly among us but equally to folks born at a later point in tome. Good DUB included, of course.

After this, we’re diving straight into a selection of UK/Euro DUB and Roots. Dutch singer Lyrical Benjie with two massive tunes, one carrying a heavyweight Dub part and from the UK there’s the Talking Dog with not just crucial vibes but equally crucial lyrics. Lyrics that should appeal to the lovers of consciousness as Babylon System is falling even though she claims the opposite. 

There’s more: From the excellent AKA Dub Part One compilation released by the Scandinavian LUSH RECORDS label, to the Italian DUB Community and even to Japan where Dry and Heavy keep playing their massive Roots and DUB in Old Skool Style. There’s French DUB as well, with conscious contents: almost a given when it comes to European contemporary Roots and Culture. 

The show closes off with an extended version by the UK based "Dub From Atlantis" collective, more or less a cover version of a classic track of which yours truly has forgotten the name. Last but not least, here are the Abassi All-Stars with vocalist Kenny Knots once again explaining that Babylon really has a Wicked Intention, something that has to be mentioned.

WWW, July 2011 -  It wasn’t directly the intention, not even on the playlist: there was some spontanious impulse within Ziggy Marley which made him say "Jammin, Jammin" to the band as they played live in Sao Paulo (Brasil). The result is a spontanious, but tight performance of the well known track by Ziggy Marley’s father.

The track clearly shows how Ziggy Marley has made his own particular way and style of doing the musical works. It’s clear he know the track inside-out, how could it be any different, but he and the band definitely build on top of it. Nice Dubby parts, nuff improvisations as well ("Jammin in the Rain"), while they thought that "Jamming was a thing of the past" it’s still going strong in this 21st Century Time and Iwa!

WWW, July 2011 - In this selection of heavyweight UK/Euro Dub and Roots, we start of with a couple of new free and legal releases, only to continue with a selection of better material featuring -among many more- Mad Professor and Slimmah Sound. Nuff vocals, more Dubs, a lot of it reviewed at mp3.dubroom.org. 

There might be a crisis inna Europe at the moment, but it has little to do when it comes to the inspiration and output of the UK/Euro Dub and Roots Massive. We’ve seen some very crucial releases lately, of which we play the opening track followed by Alambic Conspiracy’s contribution to the Third chapter of the Italian Dub Community Showcase series. 

Followed is a to the UK (DFA, Mad Professor, Echo Ranks and Dub Terror, Jah Warrior and Peter Broggs, Bush Chemist, Alpha and Omega) and the Netherlands (Lyrical Benjie, Slimmah Sound and Jah Melody). Heavyweight Dubs and vocal tracks, all of them pure niceness for the true Rootsman.

The selection closes of with two titles from the Italian Dub Community Showcase series: BR Stylers as well as Moa Anbessa can be considered among the top of the Italian Dub scene and this is -0as can be heard- not without reason.

Indeed, there are many warmongers crying for more and more war even in the Name of the Divine Saviour. The louder they cry, the less chance they hear Yesus Kristos knocking on the doors of their souls. Will they cry until Jah shall come? WWW, July 2011 - Opening up with a healthy selection of (brand) new Roots, going further into 1980’s Rub a Dub, moving forward to contemporary UK/Euro Dub and Roots: Chapter 10 of Radio Dubroom 2011 can be called a versatile selection without exaggeration.

Everton Blender opens up with a cool and dreadly One Drop riddim from his album "It’s My Time", in which he explains where he’s coming from and not going to. Luciano takes over and gives thanks and praise to the Almighty One, a thing which Gappy Ranks also does in a brand new upcoming release by VP Records. Also brand new from VP is "Times Like This" by Queen Ifrica, taken from the latest Reggae Gold installment. Natty King closes of this introductionary section of contemporary Roots Reggae, with a track called "Pray Today" which you can legally download for free.

Next up is a selection of early 1980’s Reggae. The classic "Worries In The Dance" by Frankie Paul, recently re-released by VP Records, has not lost one milligram of it’s heavyweight. The very same can be said about "Promised Land", Aswad’s cooperation with Dennis Brown also re-released by VP. We move further with a couple of dubs by Scientist and two titles by Earl 16 and Mikey Dread, all of which are recently reviewed at http://mp3.dubroom.org and can be legally downloaded for free. 

The second half of the show contains some very powerful vibes from the UK/Euro DUB and Roots front. Opening up with the heartfelt "Conscious Man" from Das Pilah, followed by Daweh Congo’s "Straight Up Conscious" of which we also play the Dub only to continue with more and more Dub: France-based No More Babylon, Jah Roots from the Netherlands, the US based Rastafarians, and Bush Chemists from UK. 

Bush Chemists, Jah Warrior, RDK Sound System, Youthman Stepper, Vibronics, Killa Sound Yard: they all come with one or more titles in the heavyweight Steppers selection that closes of this chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011. Heavyweight Steppers in the style made popular throughout the UK and subsequently the rest of Europe. Digital sounds combined with heartical instrumental playing, lyrical contributions and above all: skillful Dub engineering.

Play loud, louder than loud and when you have a subwoofer you might want to put it on too and disturb the neighbor with consciousness once more!

WWW, July 2011 - Once lost but now found: straight from the dusty corners of the Dubroom Studio Archives, where this recording has been mixed probably somewhere in the early years of the 21st century. It’s an instrumental track with a whole lotta live Dub mixing by Messian Dread and some masterful keyboard works of Sure D over an Ire One Drop rhythm laid down by Imro Fedor on Drums and Erik on Bass.

You could argue, that the title is not really covering the contents of the track. After all, there is not a single instance in which the drum and the bass play without any other instrument rolling along. Therefore, as said, this is an instrumental track. 

Sure D, the keyboard player, recorded several tracks into the -rather primitive- multitrack, all showcasing his talents and skill. The drums was recorded rather primitive, too. Having no budget at all, just two microphones were used and since there was no bass microphone present, the bass drum doesn’t really come forward in the mix. Still, a tight drum and bass section can easily be discerned.

So, what about the title?

The answer is obviously in the mix itself. Even though the keyboards are never completely cut off, there is still a Whole Lotta DUB mixing going on. It was mixed live by Messian Dread, everything done in just one take, with the intention to apply subtle Dub mixing in order to emphasize the talents of the players of instruments.

No programming was involved whatsoever during the whole process. In fact, the computer is only used to record the mix and subsequent mastering. Definitely a rare recording, too good to not be shared with those that are interested in the Dubroom’s history.

WWW, March 2011 - A heavyweight selection without objection of steppers DUB and some vocal parts featuring some of the top UK DUB producers. From Mad Professor to Alpha and Omega, from Bush Chemists to Vibronics: not to mention Nucleus Roots, Fullness and Black Roots.

We’re kicking of with Jah ‘Dub Activist’ Free from his Break-Out album, of which we play the vocal and the Dub track. After the magnificent ‘Dub Reaction" mixed by Mad Professor for Lush Records on their excellent AKA DUB compilation and a hard hitting mix by Fullness, it’s time for the Nucleus Roots DUB and Roots collective. Heartical and militant vibes combined fe true. 

Cyrenius Black’s more-than-heavyweight discomix opens up a selection from the Conscious Sounds studio, with Dougie Wardrop and others at the control delivering some crucial Steppers in DUB. The Conscious Sounds selection end with the vibefull Dub and Vocal by King General asking you about your membership of JAH Army. Conscious Sounds, fe true.

This show also contains a long selection all produced by the Dynamic UK DUB Twins Alpha and Omega, containing some massive material with their outstanding bass lines and vibefull, much varied mixing works. These ones go deeper than deep and higher than high fe true!

The last three selections of the set is reserved for two steppers tunes produced by Steve Vibronics, whose sound contains the best of the digital and analogue possibilities. Ending with another mix by Mad Professor (Courtesy Universal Egg), this chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011 surely is exactly that which the title says: nuff vibes, stricktly UK Steppers!

WWW, March 2011 - Heavyweight Steppers from the top to the very last drop: Here is Chapter 8 of Radio Dubroom 2011. Presenting a big selection from the World Wide Web as well as tunes from some of the top UK DUB Masters, like Mad Professor and Disciples. Twenty-one titles: three Vocal tracks and 18 DUB Shots, well over 1 hour and 30 minutes of energy!

The show starts with a massive steppers track released by GoldHeart Music: Daweh Congo tells us what the music is all about and how it works on to provide Jah Children with yet another blessing. Much needed down here inna Babylon, and so we forward with a remix of the Babylon Children title by Vibronics and Boney L.

After the two vocal tracks, we dive deep in Dub. We’re talking Vibronics, Disciples, Iration Steppas, Mad Professor, Alpha and Omega: representing the TOP of DUB Material from the UK. Also included in the mix is a very healthy portion of music released by the many Hi Quality DUB Net Labels. Here, we’re talking too: Italian DUB Community, Kris Naphtalie, Original DUB Gathering, French Dub Released, they’re all presented with one or more titles.

There’s even more: a massive DUB by the UK based Nucleus Roots, Swedish Lion Dub and French I-Plant. A highlight towards the end is the extended mix of No More Babylon with Kenny Knots at the microphone stand, available for free and legal download from mp3.dubroom.org.

All in all, a selection of very powerful and uplifting DUB and other Roots Reggae from the last two decades in which the DUB Movement spread all over the world, providing Consciousness and other blessings that will definitely motivate you doing JAH Works even more as we Step Out Of Babylon to Mount Zion.

WWW, March 2011 - The message from ancient is almost 1 1/2 hour of Jamaican Rockers Reggae from the 1970’s, with DJ’s and Singers chanting down Babylon and singing Jah Praise: timeless truth on some really heavy duty drum and bass lines carefully mixed by the Founding Fathers of DUB Mixing and Reggae Music.

The show opens with a classic tune by Yabby You singing praises to Yesus Kristos, JAH Himself Who came down to save His children. The tracks also contains a warning for those that play with fire while Jah Jah soon come. More actual than ever before as I would say! Sylford Walker also comes with a warning because when Jah Jah come Judgment come along with Him.

The second part of the show is reserved for some of the best Jamaican toasters (Reggae DJ’s) of the 1970’s: Dr. Alimantado, I Roy, Tappa Zukie, U Brown and Trinity are there to deliver their message of Truth and Righteousness.

Third part comes in a stricktly, stricktly Dubwise style mixed by some of the Founding Fathers of DUB: King Tubby, of course, as well as Prince Jammy and Ernest Hoo-Kim who mixes a crucial riddim by Inner Circle (aka Fatman Riddim Section). Roots at the Control fe true!

Chapter 7 of Radio Dubroom 2011 ends with a selection of vocal tracks with their Dub version, some of them even with two Dubs: Junior Ross, Errol Holt and Yabby You are there to once again remind us of the Message of Ancient that you can find throughout the whole set.

The show starts with a crucial Dub by the Swedish based Gold Heart music, featuring Roots Daughter Sheya Mission on vocals. It’s followed by Lyrical Benjie explaining just what this Roots and Culture music is all about, after which we find another Dutch vocalist Jah Melody teaming up with producer Slimmah Sound in two heavyweight Roots and Dub singles.

We’re going straight into DUB Cyberspace with no less than three tracks from the brand new Highvory album, released by the Original DUB Gathering and Dubalizer with a tune from his brand new release on Fresh Poulp called In Transe. WWW, January 2011 - Taken from the album "Walt Rides Again" which is available from sites like amazon.com, "Life (It Na Funny)" is an excellent DUB track in the ROOTS tradition, with full-blown horns and a massive drum and bass line. The Neophytes, who have been around long enough to be among the Experienced, team up with vocalist Errol Judah in what can only be described as a must-have for your ever growing collection of free and legal MP3 files.  

The Dub mixing is excellent, there are enough parts with lyrical content to guarantee the conscious aspect while the instruments in their turn form a perfect input for the echo machine and reverberation device. Life is not funny for the sufferers, but music make them help through in that mystical way which is perfectly captured in the (free and legal) release. Consider purchasing the album, more than worth it!

WWW, January 2011 - Starting off with no less than 6 new releases by VP records, it’s clear that Roots Reggae is not about to perish in spite of statements you hear sometimes here and there by people who think that good music is a thing from the past. Chapter 4 of Radio Dubroom 2011 contains once again a healthy portion of Roots Reggae with a whole lot of DUB for your listening enjoyment!

The set starts off with a Dub from Cocody Rock by the African singer Alpha Blondy, followed by the vocal version. A great re-issue from VP Records! Bushman is up next with his brand new album livicated to Peter Tosh, followed by another classic, both in the original Discomix and a new version by Damien Marley and Nas: Dennis Brown with Aswad on the massive Promised Land riddim can’t be refused! 

Next up, two tunes by Richie Spice, one from a brand new release by VP Records and another available free and legal in MP3 download (look to the playlist for links). 

Vibronics and Alpha & Omega form the bulk of the EuroDUB and Roots section which follows: vocalists like Boney L, Mark Iration and Jonah Dan are definitely no strangers for the listener of the better quality Roots and Dub available out there. Not so many of them might know of Gold Heart Music based in Sweden but Sheya Mission’s "Feel Like Rain" along with it’s Dub version should change that.

There’s two tunes taken from the MP3.com Legacy, too: Amsterdam based DUB Creator with one of his early productions and the Dub Farm, complete with samples from the movie Rockers which simply states: "All of the Youths Shall Witness the Day That Babylon Fall!"

WWW, January 2011 - This third chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011 is livicated to the workers of Equal rights and Justice, because without these two conditions there will be no peace as the Conscious Rastaman has been chanting from the ancient days until this very moment. The livication comes with true Roots Rockers, represented by Price Far I, Yabby You, Edi Fitzroy and many others.

The set starts with an extremely nice Reggae tune by the German band Dubious Neighborhood, followed by Benaiah and Edi Fitzroy telling it just like it is. The classic Rub a Dub tune Murderer, sung by Baqrrington Levy, subsequently introduce us to some more historical music until the end of the show.

Prince Far I has a message to those who still do not know the Bible Message that War is Over when Natty Dread Come Over, and Yabby You identifies the Anti-Christ whose followers claim to follow the true Christ. Johnny Clarke reminds us about the ancient prophecy that in the end Every Knee Shall Bow, after which we go into a segment of stricktly Dub Vibes.

From the album "In The Light", Horace Andy chants down Babylon and Prince Jammy transforms the musical atmosphere into a Natural Mystic that will go straight to the soul of the Conscious people, only to lead us straight into two crucial Discomixes by the singer Junior Ross who makes it very clear where Rasta comes from, without apology.

The show closes off with another two Dubs, each one carrying enough lyrical content to leave no doubts: yes, this is A Reggae Livication To All Peace Makers And Not War Mongers.

WWW, January 2011 - In the first chapter of Radio Dubroom 2011, we go into an eighty minute experience of contemporary Roots Reggae with a lot of Dubwise to celebrate another series of conscious sounds selected and mixed by Messian Dread.

Reggae Music is in many way African Music, spiritually Ethiopian because of the long-time relation of JAH with that land that is even described in one of the first chapter of Genesis. Long before any of these other names came to common consciousness, that is.

We start of with two dub tracks with their vocal counterpart from Benaiah, taken from the MP#.com legacy. Cool Roots Reggae, followed by Swedish based Lion and UK based Nucleus Roots, each on with a crucial Dub tune.

After that, a small livication to UK based Fullness, whose collaboration with vocalist Izyah Davis is gladly received, reviewed and played here in Radio Dubroom. 

More Nucleus Roots and Lion Dub, followed by some heavyweight steppers Dubs from Conscious Sounds, the Blackstarliners, BR Stylers, Alp0ha and Omega to name just a few are followed and form the last part of this chapter.

WWW, September 28 2010 - "Set Him Free" is a powerful track by the Connecticut-based Jamaican singer Pappa Biggy, created in 2009 when the news broke on Buju Banton’s arrest in Florida on cokane charges. After almost nine months of being in jail, Buju Banton was finally put before a judge and jury, who could not come to a verdict with the result that a new trial is set for December. That’s when Buju Banton will then be in jail for a year. 

Pappa Biggy graciously gave the Dubroom permission to upload the track.

WWW, September 2010 - Four different Sounds, each one coming with two vocal tracks accompanied by their Dub versions: it’s time for a showcase, a Righteous Showcase selected by Messian Dread for your spiritual and social inspiration. Courtesy some of the top producers of this time!

"A Showcase Of Righteousness" it is, indeed. In Reggae Culture, a Showcase album or selection gives you vocal tracks with their Dub versions, sometimes mixed in one non-stop track or two separate tunes. Righteousness obviously refers to the contents of the lyrics: it’s all about Livity and Consciousness.

The show opens up with two great tunes produced by the Dutch based Slimmah Sound, the first one released on Zion Train’s Deep Root label while Kyle Sicarius’ "Tribulation" came out on Slimmah’s own Roots Tribe Records. Excellence showing how Roots Music will continue in this century.

Tena Stelin’s album "Sun and Moon", released on the Conscious Sounds label is in itself an excellent Showcase album, too. The UK Dub and Roots veterans have been writing history for decades already, and this production with the UK based conscious singer is yet another example of that. Two tunes, one with a message of Babylon’s upcoming fall and another containing praises to Jah, "The Original Author" with which we wholeheartedly agree here in the Dubroom.

Chanter Jah Marnyah and singer Anthony John, both riding a Vibronics produced steppers riddim and Dub continue the Showcase of Righteousness, with some heavyweight DUB sounds mixed in that special Vibronics sound, mixing old-skool technology with contemporary digital possibilities in a unique way. From Vibronics’ very own Scoops Label, originally released on 10 inch.

The show concludes with two crucial steppers riddims by the UK DUB Twins Alpha and Omega, whose specific bass-centralized music have been blasting through the speakers of all of UK’s legendary Sound Systems, including the great Jah Shaka who was by himself instrumental in getting the duo together to release tunes back in the 1980’s.

WWW, September 2010 - With a lot of jingles and effects from the great Zion Train Dub Selections sample pack (reviewed in the Dubroom), Ruff and Tuff contains a heavyweight selections of vocals and dubs from the UK and the European continent.

Conscious Sounds studio opens up this selection with Culture Freeman and King General at the microphone. Both vocalists are known for their works with Dougie Wardrop’s studio, even though King General was a mystery to many until the "All Tribes Welcome" website posted a video review with the singer and Dougie Wardrop (Look HERE).

The heart of the podcast is filled with heavyweight Dubwise, of which you can hear two earthshaking dubs from Conscious Sounds as a start. Iration Steppas take over, Slimmah Sound, Nucleus Roots, BR Stylers and others come with more drum-and-bass-line music.

The show ends with two titles from UK based Boney L: on a Vibronics riddim she sings the well-known "English Girl", after which Alpha and Omega join with more music over which the singer sings about the one Roots, JAH ROOTS!

WWW, September 2010 - Even though the music was created over three decades ago, there is not one milligram of the heavy weight gone missing. In "Rockers Solid Foundation", Radio Dubroom presents over one-and-a-half hour of pure Jamaican niceness from back then!

The opening track is a classic on it’s own, even though originally there were only a few hundred copies pressed of the magnificent Tappa Zukie dubs. "MPLA" is a heavyweight steppers and definitely sets the tone for the rest of the show.

After Big Youth’s classic Mosiah Garvey in Discomix style, we go to Trinity who give respect to the iriginal Jesus Dread, aka Yabby You. A big spiritual example to the webmaster of the Dubroom, it’s obvious that Trinity is followed up by the man himself, as he chants along with his Prophets group that King Pharaoh better watch his step. More crucial toasting of Trinity on the same riddim, which makes place for some crucial mixing by the Founding Father of DUB himself: King Tubby’s at the control.

Next up is two dubs and two vocals by Prince Jammy’s at the Control and Horace Andy at the microphone stand. Dub mixing which will give you thrills, that is, when you feel Dubwise for what it really is. otherwise you cannot refuse the wisdom rendered verbally by Horace Andy, introduction not required.

Johnny Clarke, Prince Alla, Junior Ross, Sylford Walker: there’s a segment of stricktly Discomixes and that segment comes right after the Prince Jammy and Horace Andy tracks. Heavyweight Roots in a style that has definitely moved forward into this century even though it’s clear that the old skool equipment used back in the day were only heralding what was yet to come.

The final five titles of this tribute to the Founding Fathers goes back to a stricktly Dubwise vibe: inner Circle in a way they will not be recognized these days, two dubs that came as the result of Prince Jammy’s mixing for Dennis Brown’s DEB label and last but not least two Dubs from a collaboration with Prince Jammy and Michael Prophet, the great Reggae singer who was -just like Michael Rose and countless others- discovered and tutored by Yabby You, who was not just a great vocalist but equally if not even more a top notch producer.

WWW, September 2010 - In the meantime, UK DUB and ROOTS is taking over the European continent and serves as the foundation as a true new generation discovers, enjoys and produces the music. JAH LION INNA INGLAN pays respect and tribute to some of the UK-based masters of DUB and Roots, all being influential in this positive movement.

It’s almost becoming a tradition: the show opens up with a militant steppers DUB from the always upful Conscious Sounds studio. Directly after that, we dive into a selection of vocals with their DUB versions from Vibronics studio.

Mark Iration, Murray Man and Echo Ranks all give some teachings, encouragements and general upliftment of Truth. Vocals and dubs, all produced by Steve Vibronics, whose specific sound is more-than apreciloved here in the Dubroom. The same thing can be said about the Zion Train and Vibronics Dubwise collaboration.

It’s not just Vibronics and Zion Train, though. Dougie Wardrop’s Conscious Sounds studio can be considered as a generation older than said two generals of UK DUB and ROOTS. There’s a significant segment of Conscious Sounds material following.

UK-based online artist EL BIB (known from the Revolutionary DUB Vibrations Net Albums) has a crucial collaboration with Conscious Sounds and vocalist Clappers. We’ve got special permission to play both the vocal and the Dub of the excellent "We Love Dub", with vocal in Macka B style and the mixing in the traditional, orthodox way.

Vocalist King General made a crucial album for Conscious Sounds entitled "Money Run Things". In this chapter of Radio Dubroom 2010, we play another selection than the title track. The vocalist fortunately came back after a long hiatus, but that’s for another show as well. Time for Culture Freeman to ride another Conscious Sounds riddim, just as crucial and just as powerful.

JAH LION INNA INGLAN closes of with another Vibronics production, this time with vocalist Madu. His words on the Book of the Apocalypse give more than enough food for thought, so it’s a perfect ending of yet another chapter in the ongoing series of the Radio Dubroom 2010 podcasts.

WWW, September 2010 - Powerful and militant riddims serve as the musical foundation on which the singers and Dub engineers do their excellent works. From the Swedish based LION DUB to the Netherlands with SLIMMAH SOUND to the UK where ALPHA AND OMEGA plus a whole number of other workers do their thing. 

Just after the powerful opening by the Bush Chemists (Conscious Sounds Studio), the set presents the mighty "Jah is Calling You" riddim by the mighty UK DUB Twins Alpha and Omega: just the drum and bass alone give some crucial militant vibes but there’s much more happening in the two different mixes.

Following the first segment, we’re taken to a number of vocal tracks with their Dub versions. First is Jah Marnyah with some crucial words concerning the fact that the Babylonian church totally "ignored" the Book of Enoch, kept in Ethiopia, Nishka with a heartical plea to Jah children to consider the fact that yes, we are one body and should live like that as well. Cyrenius Black is up next, riding a Conscious Sounds riddim praising the Most High once more cause it can’t be done enough, seen? Last tune of this chapter-and-version-segment is Earl 16 with the Abassi All-Stars, meditating on the fact that there’s just too much homeless children with fathers who don’t care about their children.

More Dub is to follow after the Dub part of the Abassi All-Star’s "Surviving (Discomix)", LION DUB from Sweden to be exact. From their excellent Net Album a tune called People Rise DUB. Forward to Nucleus Roots from the UK with two Dubs and one vocal, ending with JAH MELODIE singing over another crucial SLIMMAH SOUND riddim, with a righteous call to "Get Active" cause there is just too much to do.

WWW, August 2010 - Yes, another ninety minutes of foundational and conscious music from the Roots and Culture frontline: Dubs, Vocals and Discomixes from some of the best in the UK and EURODUB and ROOTS scene are here once again!

The show starts of with a selection of conscious tracks from the Netherlands: opening up with a dub, a vocal and a discomix by the mighty Slimmah Sound, a beautifully sung track by Lyrical Benie which carres a message which we here in the Dubroom feel to the fullness, that’s why there’s also the discomix "Yesus Messiah" included in this segment.

After that, we dive straight into the UK for some crucial releases by Zion Train, Conscious Sounds and Vibronics: all coming with their vocal and dub version mixed together.

Vibronics’ "Marcus Garvey Dub" opens the third segment, which carries a lot of DUB from the Online frontline. Some top names there, too: I-Tist, Gadman Dubs and Hatman for example.

The fourth and last segment contains a selection from the Italian DUB band and collective BR Stylers. This collective is truly one of the discoveries of this year here in the Dubroom.

WWW, August 2010 - Get your bass speakers out for a conscious experience that will keep you jumping and skanking for the full 120 minutes: In a two-hour selection of stricktly Steppers DUBs and Vocals, this episode of Radio Dubroom 2010 follows the musical Straight and Narrow road of the underground aka Roots!

With a true Alpha and Omega classic, originally released on 10 inch vinyl, Bush Chemists providing some positive advice and Kanka coming in warrior style, this show opens with three Dubs which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the podcast.

It’s not just Dubwise, though, and the magnificent Pablo Gad enters with his massive "Technology" ("They Tek From You And They Tek From Me And They Call It Tek-knowlogy") plus Dub version to show it. Dub Conductor is next, with a brand new free release followed by a Dub Plate remix, unavailable for download.

More vocal tracks with their Dub versions: the mighty conscious Slimmah Sound from the Netherlands, associated with King Shiloh. His production "Jah Is My Light" with vocalist Kyle Sicarius is a massive piece of Roots Reggae, and featured in the show. Rohan Lee and Kenny Knots on Vibronics’ Scoops Label are present as well, that is just before another selection of stricktly Dub enters.

Disciples, Jonah Dan, Alpha and Omega, Nucleus Roots: some top names in the field of UK Roots and especially DUB, a thing we can hear back in the Dub segment. Massive, deep bass for example!

In the final part of the show we go back to vocals with their Dub versions. Daddy Teacha, for example, known from the MP3.com days enters with his collaboration with Alpha and Omega and Vibronics. There’s more from Vibronics, more from Conscious Sounds and more from -again- the mighty and conscious Slimmah Sound. This time it’s vocalist Zed-I with some remarks about the herb that is denied by some by accepter by others.

The show closes with a mighty Dub from the Italian Dub Community Showcase series. Redemption is a must, a thing which can be found at the end of the Straight and Narrow road, both musically and spiritually.

WWW, August 2010 - Michael "Dread At The Controls" Campbell, aka Mikey Dread was the first Jamaican Reggae Radio DJ and with that alone, his name is very rightfully written in the book of Reggae’s History. His productions and releases are very impressive too, as the man was a very mighty producer and vocalist of his own as well. Radio Dubroom honors Mikey Dread with seventy-two different minutes of pure Dread At The Controls!

Even though Mikey Dread has passed away to Mount Zion to be with Jah, his legacy is enormous. Over several decades, Michael Campbell has been steadily releasing one classic after the other, struggled to get the full copyright over his material at a later stage so that he could share his works with the people the way he wanted it.

One of these ways is to provide a lot of free and legal MP3 files (all downloadable from mp3.dubroom.org), and to give permission to certain broadcasters to play this material. The 72 minutes that this podcast lasts, only contains a small portion of that huge collection.

WWW, August 2010 - This episode of Radio Dubroom 2010 takes us straight to the Roots and Culture frontline, where conscious lyrics over thunderous bass and drum lines make a difference. With singers like Lyrical Benji, Martin Campbell and King General, players of instruments like BR Stylers, the Livication Riddim Section and the Bush Chemists, and Dub engineers like Dubcreator, Dougie Wardrop and Manutension, the music ranges from brand new releases to material from well over a decade old.

The show starts with a heavyweight steppers from Conscious Sounds studio, with King General at the microphone stand. Lyrical Benji takes over with two titles, the second one perfectly mixed by the Dutch based Dubcreator. It’s the first of a selection of older productions by the Amsterdam Dub Master, all of which were available for download at the "golden days of MP3.com", just like the crucial Martin Campbell tune. Crucial lyrics, and also the bridge to some more recent material from Italy and France.

Music Inna House from Italy is represented with a discomix and a dub, that has a lot of similarity with the classic Rastafari riddim by Alpha and Omega. Almost seamless, the two tracks blend into each other. By means of the, again, classic Alpha and Omega we enter into a selection of fast steppers Dubs.

The Italian Dub Collective BR Stylers is the last up-tempo steppers: one more time we get ourselves familiar with the Music Inna House collective, their music was all mixed in the Moa Anbessa studio’s in Venice (Italy), just before the show closes off with a brand new free release by the UK based Dub Conductor.

This is music from the Roots and Culture front line, this is music that matters, big respect to all the singers, players of instruments and Dub engineers. Jah Love continually!

WWW, August 2010 - The 12th episode of Radio Dubroom 2010 is filled with Roots and Culture: From a pre-release of Luciano’s brand new album "United States of Africa" to some selections from the MP3.com legacy and a healthy doses of UK and EURO DUB.

Blessed vibes, indeed: it already starts with the very first title, coming with it’s Dub version before the vocal part. Blessings from Jah we at the Dubroom wish to each and everyone, which also shows in the next few selections featuring Everton Blender and Luciano.

Luciano’s brand new album "United States of Africa" is scheduled for release this month, but VP Records gives us a sneak preview with the excellent track Moving On, surprisingly in a real retro sound.

Luciano’s voicing of a Twilight Circus riddim introduces us to the main section of this episode of Radio Dubroom 2010: music from some of the top names in the area of UK DUB and EURO DUB, and Roots. From the continent: OBF as featured in the recently reviewed "Fire Dub Revolution" compilation, plus a couple of selections from the Italian Dub Community, including BR Stylers, Moa Anbessa and Dub Engine, where from the UK we have Jonah Dan, Conscious Sounds, Disciples and Alpha and Omega.

WWW, July 2010 - Starting off with some brand new and upcoming releases from VP Records, only to end1 hour and 40 minutes later with some heavy-duty DUB tracks: welcome to another Radio Dubroom selection featuring Capleton, Sizzla, Vibronics, Alpha and Omega plus a whole heap of other Dub and (other) Reggae Niceness.

Radio Dubroom is not about sharing the private (DUB) Reggae collection of the selector, and not just because copyright issues are a major obstacle. The podcast is truly an addition to what is already on the Dubroom, created with the very same challenge that the rest of the website provides for the contributors.

Just like the Dubroom doesn’t carry any illegal links, so is all music on the podcast pre-cleared, with the exception of a rare or out-of-print tune which we might play here and there. So we have either explicit permission to play the music on the show or it’s simply available free and legal on the Internet. Usually, we will already have reviewed that free and legal material at mp3.dubroom.org, our huge portal filled with reviews of free and legal MP3 files.

The tenth episode of Radio Dubroom 2010 is completely within this concept, too. As we recently obtained permission by VP RECORDS and ALPHA AND OMEGA to play and promote their music on the podcast, this show contains a number of tunes from the label which are scheduled for release next month or so, for example the Greensleeves release of old unreleased Sizzla material or the latest single by Capleton.

After the initial 20 minutes or so in which we play new releases and a release by Linvall Thompson, we continue with a track by the Jamaican based Italian singer Alborosie, who chants down Babylon in a heartical and rootical way because Babylon exiled the Rototom Sunsplash Reggae Festival out of Italy so that the whole thing is now held in Spain (MORE INFO HERE).

With this Alborosie track we enter into another section of the show, which basically lasts through the rest of the podcast. It’s a selection of contemporary music from NO MORE BABYLON, VIBRONICS and ALPHA AND OMEGA as well as a host of other DUB and ROOTS producers and artists. 

A special part is the mix between a track from the brand new Net Album début by TIBURK SOUND SYSTEM, combined with two poems from Jamaican DUB Poet VIAJAH MORGAN. 

When the show ends with a more than crucial DUB track by the Belgian Roots singer Sister Mika, we’ve heard a couple of hard stepping Dubs of which the Madaski Remix of BR Stylers is definitely noteworthy. Vibronics with three tracks, Alpha and Omega with two: this podcast really starts with cool runnings going over into hot steppers!

VIBRONICS AND CONSCIOUS SOUNDS MEET BR STYLERS
RADIO DUBROOM 2010 - EPISODE 9

WWW, July 2010 - This week’s episode of Radio Dubroom is completely livicated to the works of Conscious Sounds Studio’s and Vibronics of the UK and the Italian based Dub band/collective BR Stylers. Roots and culture galore, with almost all tracks coming with their vocal and Dub version!

A big THANK YOU! should be given to Dougie Wardrop and Steve Vibronics for granting permission to the Dubroom for playing their -outstanding- material on Radio Dubroom. Both names are well established within the UK DUB and ROOTS scene, not without reason because they have helped to give birth to what in the meantime is known under the name EURODUB and ROOTS, of which BR Stylers is one very, very fine example.

This is truly a heavyweight podcast, carrying three musical generations of producers and artists all represented by one of the best. From Dougie Wardop’s Conscious Sounds to Vibronics to the Italian based BR Stylers, this is an all-killer-no-filler selection featuring singers like Tena Stelin, Prince Alla and Jah Free. 

This is one and a half hour of pure uplifting sounds for the heart and soul. 

Conscious Sounds

The Conscious Sounds studio and label is run by Dougie Wardrop. He is widely seen as one of the founders of the sound we come to know as UK DUB and ROOTS, even though Dougie himself seem to prefer to call bascially everything “Reggae” rather then point out to the location of where the music is made. Still, the specific sound that Dougie helped shaping needs a name, even though it spread to the rest of Europe and even beyond so we now speak about EURODUB and well.

As said, Dougie Wardrop was there at the birth. In an interview with the English Culture Reggae website, you can read how the music took shape after Jamaica basically turned to Dancehall with the Sleng-Teng riddim and so on, somewhere in the 1980’s. Even in London, there was just one place to go if you wanted to hear Roots Music: JAH Shaka. Dougie Wardrop and others started to provide the much needed Roots and Culture music to the Spound Systems and the rest is history, of which you can hear a little bit in this podcast.

Vibronics

This year, Steve Vibronics can look back at 15 years of works within the UK DUB and ROOTS scene. He got his inspiration from the Aba Shant-I Sound System and handed his first recording over to the owner of the sound. It didn’t take long for them to cut dub plates from the recording, and the rest is history. A very interesting history, that is.

He signed up for Zion Train’s Universal Egg label, toured with them and then went on to collaborate with UK based Dub Activist Jah Free for an album where both names provided half of the material. Steve Vibronics went on to produce one crucial dub plate after the other, released two more full length albums and has in the mean time founded his own SCOOPS label, of which we play some very nice selections in this podcast.

BR Stylers

From Conscious Sounds in the 1980’s to Vibronics in the 1990’s, 2000 gave birth to one very interesting DUB and ROOTS collective/band based in the northern parts of Italy. Their first big appearance was at the well-known Rototom Sunsplash festival, which was then still held in Italy. The response was very good and that should not be a suprise for anyone who has even heard just one tune of the group.

They kept on performing in a wide number of countries, sharing stages with Mad Professor, Zion Train and other greats from the UK DUB and ROOTS scene. While doing so, they released one album after the other, most of which can be downloaded for free straight from their website. The sound of BR Stylers is of course massively inspired by UK DUB and ROOTS, and in their own might they can be seen as one of the first generations of EURODUB and ROOTS: uplifting, inspiring music both lyrically and musically, always accompanied by a heavy bass and crucial Dub versions.

WWW, July 2010 - Here is chapter eight of Radio Dubroom 2010: over two hours of High Quality (DUB) Reggae Music, every one of the twenty-nine titles created in this century and also available for free and legal MP3 download! The show kicks off with a rocking Dub by the Spanish band Hotdrop, after which the UK based band PAMA Intl. takes over with a nice discomix. Three vocal track follow, of which Sheya Mission’s “Summertime” is a pre-release from her upcoming album which will be released by Gold Heart Music.

The next segment is a selection of vocal tracks with their Dub versions. Again it’s the Spanish Hotdrop kicking it off, and via Mysticman we get into a righteous message by the Wicked DUB Division.

We continue with a selection of DUB tunes, most of them Steppers. Again, Sheya Mission but this time with a pumping DUB from Gold Heart Music who also released the Daweh Congo DUB. Hatman, Dubzoic and The Blackstarliners, just three names out of the DUB segment.

Winston McAnuff begins the last part of the show, containing vocals and DUBs in Steppers style. Two titles from the Italian DUB Community follow, three productions by yours truly the selector of this show end just over two hours of Reggae Blessings from 21st Century Cyberspace.

WWW, June 2010 - In addition to a lot of conscious vocal tracks coming with their Dub versions, this episode of Radio Dubroom contains a rare 1975 Yabby You Dub plate, a historical Prince Far I radio recording and a section of stricktly digital Dub.

The show starts with an error message people used to get when they clicked on a link at the old MP3.com website that was outdated. It doesn’t just mark the start of this episode of Radio Dubroom, it’s also a not-so-subtle reminder of what has happened in the past to what promised to become the biggest music site on the Internet because of the online artist community. We play two tracks with their Dub versions from that time.

After two crucial discomixes and one DUB , we play a track from Prince Far I’s Peel Sessions that he recorded for the BBC decennia ago. It’s followed by a massive tune by Jr Roots (all reviewed at mp3.dubroom.org).

Next up is a tune by Yabby You from 1975. It was recorded at King Tubby’s but only one copy has ever been pressed of it. The tune is very damaged because of vinyl scratches but it’s too beautiful to not listen to at least one time.

Time warp into this century for two titles released by the Scandinavian based Label GOLDHEART MUSIC, one by the Surinam Netherlands based Reggae singer KEN DREAD, the Spanish Roots Reggae Band HOT DROP, every title coming with a vocal and a DUB version.

The show ends with a selection of Deep DUB from the various DUB based NET Labels that continue to release floods of more-than-massive material. BIG UP to all of them, both the labels and the artists/producers!

WWW, June 2010 - In what is already the sixth episode of Radio Dubroom 2010, we play a selection of stricktly Jamaican Rub a Dub and Roots Rockers styles. An All-Star list of artists in a selection of All-Killer-No-Filler riddims, every track reviewed and available for free/legal download at mp3.dubroom.org! 

When the show opens up with an instrumental of the Under-Mi-Sensi riddim, made popular by Barrington Levy, the tone is set for the rest of the show. We’re going into a selection of stricktly Rub a Dub and Roots Rockers Reggae from Jamaica, with almost all tunes recorded during the later part of the 1970’s, early 1980’s. 

There are singers and players of instruments, there are deejay’s and Dub engineers as well. 

With names like Sugar Minott, Johnny Osbourne, Scientist, Prince Jammy, Jah Stitch and Mikey Dread, it’s obvious that we have some true gems playing through the speakers. WWW, June 2010 - Jamming The World Wide Web: this is a selection of some of the best material available for free and legal download on a wide variety of websites. From Dancehall to UK DUB, from Old Skool Roots to Contemporary Roots, with vocals and versions, this is by far the most varied podcast thus far.

The show starts off with two dubs, the first one taken from the brand new release DUB FRESH AIR by the Italian based Net Label 4WEED. The second one is taken from the DEMO’S AND REMIXES IN DUB.

Net Labels are everywhere, including Brazil where we find a nice collection of Dancehall Dubplates with well known Jamaican Vocalists by producer Mykal Orthodox on the Cabeza Label. We play a tune with Burru Banton and one with Bounty Killer.

From the Spanish based NEBLINA SOUND we play a jungle version of their Operator riddim, followed by somemore Spanish vibes with Flamenco Dub by Utterance, taken from the DUBNIGHT compilation available on the German based BIGVIBEZ.com website. From that same website, we play two tunes by the German based Reggae band Firetime, a well known Riddim Section who played with too many vocalists to mention.

ALAMBIC CONSPIRACY AND FAIZA with their excellent ME SEE YA taken off the ITALIAN DUB COMMUNITY SHOWCASE VOLUME TWO are taking us further into a next section of the show. They’re followed by KEN DREAD’s excellent track ONE LOVE (same title, different tune than the BMW track) and “Midnight DUB” from PARVEZ aka House Of Riddim, the last one taken from DUBNIGHT VOLUME ONE.

The show reserves almost twenty minutes for two more thgan exxellent vocals and their dubs by the Spanish based HOTDROP band. Taken from their brand new “DIS(COVER) SHOWCASE” album for which they only used stricktly old skool hardware to produce, two crucial renderings of soulfull old skool Roots Rockers Reggae.

In closure, we pay a short visit to the French based DUB CULTURE website where you can find a fine selection of contemporary Roots and DUB by a number of known, lesser known and unknown artists. Radio Dubroom plays Earl 16’s “Give Me Good Sensi”, a Zion Train production and an upfull, majestic Dub by Malone Rootikal.

WWW, June 2010 - As the title indicates, in this episode Radio Dubroom presents a selection of European Dub and (other) Roots Reggae. A selection of strong combinations of vocals and their Dub counterparts, Discomixes and spaced-out Dub tracks.

The show starts off with an oldie from the golden days of MP3.com. Italy-based Dubware was heralding the then upcoming movement of the Italian Massive, of which we can get a taste in the excellent “Italian Dub Community Showcase” compilations of which a couple of tracks are played too later in the selection.

Nucleus Roots and No More Babylon continue the start and take us into a selection of Discomixes, some time in really deep Dub, only to come back with a couple of vocals and versions after which we hear two joyful Dubs.

From the archives, Episode 4 continues with a fine selection of some crucial tracks produced by DUBCREATOR from Amsterdam, voiced by different vocalists and crucially mixed by the heavyweight DUB Champion from the Netherlands.

This selection of Eurodub and Roots closes with two UK based names: Steve Vibronics and the Tassilli Players, cooling down the tempo in order to prepare us for an easy landing.

WWW, June 2010 - The third episode of Radio Dubroom in this year of 2010 has two segments: we start with some Jamaican Roots Reggae and then turn to Poland, France, Italy and Spain for some very deep Dubwise.

Jamaican Roots Reggae is, unlike some people claim or think, not dead at all. In fact there’s some pretty strong material coming out, increasingly during the last years. The first nine titles are all reserved for a musical illustration with this statement. Most tracks are reviewed in mp3.dubroom.org.

No More Babylon’s crucial Discomix with the crucial vocals of Kenny Knots marks the transition to the second segment of the show, which contains a very interesting selection of High Quality Deep DUB from the Online (DUB) Reggae Artist community. 

What to say about Italy’s Moa Anbessa? Crucial stuff from the producers who work with the UK based Zion Train collective. Deep electronical Roots DUB from Dub Engine, Dubalizer and Big Family show that there is indeed Roots in electronic music as it is always the people who make the music.

The final track of the podcast, from the Spanish based band Hot Drop, closes of what was a selection of Deep Roots and Dub, deep as in: conscious lyrics, fat bass: authentic Reggae music in two of it’s many forms!

WWW, May 2010 - Centered around the brand new re-release “Legacy” by the Iriginal Jesus Dread Yabby You, the second episode of Radio Dubroom presents you with another selection of old and new, online and offline music.

The show opens up with an extended Dub by US based Reggae Band Root Awakening, who was very hot in the days of MP3.com when online artists were getting more and more recognition as a force to deal with. There’s more music from that time and website: a smash hit called Ten Plagues, with music produced by Dubcreator and conscious lyrics sung by Lyrical Benji. Also, Jonah Dan and Jah Rej come with dubs from the MP3.com days.

A healthy portion of contemporary online DUB is provided by the French Dawa Hi-Fi and I-Plant, who produced Tooney Roots’ crucial tune, the UK based Blackstarliners are there as well as Sushidread with Axon Sound. Also included in the mix are  a couple uf tunes from the Dubroom’s Star Selections Net Label: a nice one by Prince Fatty One Dub by JAH Roots and two demo’s by the Dubroom Webmaster, tunes of which one riddim has never been released and the other just released as instrumental.

The main focus on this episode of Radio Dubroom is reserved for the LEGACY BY YABBY YOU, a recent online re-release of some of the best material Yabby You either produced or voiced, or both. Crucial toasting by no less than four Star DJ’s, a pumping Dub and three nice vocals, of which two are voiced by the Iriginal Jesus Dread himself. The Dubroom deeply respects Yabby You for all the work he did musically and spiritually, so while he rests from his works in the Hands of the Almighty Father JAH, let us continue and promote upfullness. THE OLD, THE NOW AND THE NEW
RADIO DUBROOM 2010 - EPISODE 1

WWW, May 2010 - In the very first episode of the brand new Radio Dubroom Podcast, we can listen to a selection of fine (DUB) Reggae Music tracks, of which with the exception four titles all are available for free and legal download at mp3.dubroom.org.

The show opens up with 6 Jamaican (DUB) Reggae tracks from the 1970’s-1980’s. After the introduction Dub, a discomix by Mikey Dread, followed by two DJ tracks and a Dub. That was The Old.

We make a quick trip in both time and place, to land in the European continent where there is a large French movement involved in orthodox Roots Rock (DUB) Reggae. Centered around the beautiful Bring JAH Love by Kenny Knots and the French No More Babylon, we get a large taste of French DUB and Roots.

Via Moa Anbessa with a heartical, contemporary Roots rendering of the ancient Psalm 63, we cross the channel over to the UK where we find JAH Warrior with a Real DUB from Conscious Sounds Studio, JAH Rej from JAH Works UK and The Blackstarliners.

The last three titles are reserved for new releases: One title in two versions by the Abassi All-Stars and JAH Cure’s soulful, spiritual response to the current tribulation in which many Jamaicans find themselves these days, as covered in the Dubroom Message Boards.
